How to Find Your Wi-Fi Password on Any Device

Reveal a saved Wi-Fi password on Windows 11, iPhone and Mac, or share it as a QR code from Android, with steps from each maker.

Tutorial

Sebaraya Tech – A guest asks for the Wi-Fi password, and nobody remembers it. If any of your devices has joined that network before, the password is saved on it, and you can reveal it in under a minute.

Below are the official steps for Windows 11, iPhone, Mac, and Android, plus what to do if no device remembers it. All of these only work on networks you’ve already connected to.

Reveal It on Windows 11

  1. Open Settings and go to Network & internet > Properties.
  2. Next to Wi-Fi network password, select Show.

For a network you’re not connected to right now, go to Network & internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks, pick the network, and select Show. The PC must have joined that network at some point.

Reveal It on iPhone

On iOS 16 and later, the password for your current network sits one tap away:

  1. Open Settings and tap Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the Info button next to your network.
  3. Tap the Password field and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.

For a network you joined in the past, tap Edit at the top of the Wi-Fi screen, authenticate, then tap Info next to the saved network and tap Password.

On iOS 18, the Passwords app also lists every saved network under Wi-Fi. It’s the quicker option if you’re looking up an old network from a café or office.

Copy It on a Mac

On macOS 13 or later, Apple describes this route:

  1. Open System Settings, click Network, then Wi-Fi.
  2. Scroll down and click Advanced to see known networks.
  3. Click the More button next to the network and choose Copy Password.

The Mac copies the password rather than displaying it, so paste it into a note to read it. If you use the same Apple Account on your iPhone, Universal Clipboard may let you paste it straight onto the phone.

Share the Network From Android

Android’s built-in option shares the network as a QR code. Go to Settings > Network & internet > Internet, tap your Wi-Fi network, and tap Share. Your guest scans the code with their phone camera and joins without typing anything.

Menu names differ on Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo phones. Search “Wi-Fi” in Settings, open your network’s details, and look for a Share or QR code button.

DeviceWhere to look
Windows 11Network & internet > Properties
iPhone (iOS 16+)Settings > Wi-Fi > Info > Password
iPhone (iOS 18)Passwords app > Wi-Fi
Mac (macOS 13+)Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Copy Password

If No Device Remembers It

Check the label on the router, its paperwork, or any sheet your internet provider left. These often show the default password, which may still be in use.

If you manage the router, log in to its admin page or app to view or change the password. Otherwise, contact whoever set it up or your internet provider.

Changing the router password disconnects every device that uses the old one. You’ll need to reconnect them all, including smart TVs and printers.

If a device keeps failing with an old password, forget the network on that device and join again with the new one.

Write the password on a card and keep it near the router. Your next guest will thank you, and so will you.
